If there is one thing that country music is about, it’s family.
Kacey Musgraves says it all in her new song ‘Family is Family‘. And although there are songs about mamas and brothers (can’t think about of a song about sisters right at this minute), one family member seems to have the most songs … Dad.
Whether it’s about giving away his little girl or teaching his son to be a man, it seems all the flavours and lessons of Dad are celebrated and honoured in country music. And with country music – for better or worse – dominated by male voices, there are a quite a number of songs about the joys and sorrows of being Dad.
To celebrate Father’s Day, a musical round up of the best Dad songs seemed like a fitting idea … and for this one day of the year let him do all the Dad dancing he wants!
To start off with some favourites about being ‘The Dad’:
1. Gary Allan – Tough Little Boys
2. Tim McGraw – My Little Girl
3. Rodney Atkins – Watching You
4. Trace Adkins – Just Fishin’
Then some songs about Dad to tell him how much we love him:
5. Alan Jackson – Drive (For Daddy Gene)
6. Chuck Wicks – Stealing Cinderella
7. Bucky Covington – A Father’s Love
(Sorry, can’t find a decent music video for this song but still wanted to include it …)
8. Brad Paisley – He Didn’t Have To Be
Happy Father’s Day!
Let us know which song says ‘Dad’ the best to you …
