In my unmusical opinion, songwriters are magicians, some how managing to marry the power of poetry to three chords and the truth. Tonight, four such magicians are gathering for day two of London’s Country Music Week. Here’s hoping they reveal some of their wizardry secrets.
Michael Tyler
Michael earns his place in this line up as winner of ‘Song of the Year’ for co-writing the ever enjoyable Dierks Bentley hit Somewhere On A Beach. Prepare to swoon … when Michael starts singing ‘They Can’t See’.
Angeleena Presley
This Pistol Annie is a card carrying member of the ‘not the girl in a country song’ crowd. Channel your inner… kick ass Southern Belle with Bless My Heart, aka (another) ‘angry woman song’… at least nobody gets killed in this one.
Eric Paslay
That’s pronounced ‘pass-lay’ so not to be confused as a relation of Brad Paisley. He’s co-written for the Eli Young Band (Even If It Breaks Your Heart), Jake Owen (Barefoot Blue Jean Night), Love & Theft (Angel Eyes) and Rascal Flatts (Rewind), amongst others. Top up your whiskey… for the love song that isn’t a love song She Don’t Love You.
Randy Houser
We’re chuffed to be seeing him again so soon after last night’s performance. He’s got an impressive personal back catalogue to choose from but we’re especially eager to hear the inspiration behind Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. Get ready to laugh… along with Randy’s own infectious laugh.
Country Music Week Day two, here we come!
