8 Makers Country Fans Need to Know

It’s taken a lot of willpower to resist selfishly buying these goodies for ourselves all year, but Christmas brings a lovely, legitimate excuse to shop for some bespoke, handmade gems.

From the imagination of a Cumbria based artist (and Western shirt collector) comes a range of retro prints, homeware and gifts. Everything’s made by hand and using ethical materials. Look out for when Helen (pictured above) transfers her cowboy inspired designs onto limited edition t-shirts. Shop here.

Giulio Miglietta

Illustrator Giulio creates and sells limited edition chain stitch embroidery patches and one-off designs worthy of biker jackets, elaborate Nudie style suits and anything in between. Shop here.

This Country Room

This one’s run by a fully-fledged member of the UK Country family. Olivia’s been curating a great range of chic accessories, prints and greeting cards, inspired by country music lyrics and our favourite singers. Designs can be personalised to make great gifts and she’s taking Christmas orders until 17th December. Shop here.

My Prickly Pal

This tiny baby cactus on a keyring is possibly the cutest thing we’ve seen all year. And yes, that includes friends’ babies. There are holes in the thimble-sized case to water it and once it grows you remove it, plant and continue to nurture your mini ‘pet plant’. This is a brand new product, launching 3rd December and they offer other personalised pet cacti gifts too. Christmas orders are being taken until the 18th with prices from just a tenner. Shop here.

Hooksmith Press

This Leytonstone letter press artist creates typographic work reminiscent of Nashville’s famous Hatch Show Print. There are a range of pieces to choose from online or in the tiny east end shop, but you can also commission Russell (who’s also a wood whittler and mandolin player) to create something bespoke. Shop here.

Wee Folk Scotland

This one’s not technically country music themed but since these mini wooden figures are completely customised from your photos, they could be. They’ve hand-painted everything from nativity figures to kilted Scottish wedding parties. Shop here.

Screaming Skull Design

A Welsh company making enamel pins, patches and stickers including these which are perfect stocking fillers for the Dolly Parton fan in your life. Which is probably everyone in your life. Shop here.

Woah There Pickle

img_7066Vicky down in Brighton specialises in linocut prints, cards and gifts. There’s an eclectic mix of quirky designs but, luckily for us, graphic designer Vicky clearly went through a cowboy boot phase. Shop here.
